Quality Improvement Programme on Frontier areas in the subject

and curriculum updation

Date: 21 -23 May 2018, 9.30 am to 4.45pm

Venue: Astrophysics lab, II Floor, Block2, CHRIST Central campus

REPORT

Introduction

The quality improvement programme (QIP) aims at strengthening the faculty members through various technical/subject oriented sessions. The subject updation is always a continuous process and the QIP provides such an opportunity to interact with the experts in the chosen field and develop the knowledge base. This year, the QIP has been organized as a three day programme with a theme “Frontier areas in the subject and curriculum updation’, covering advanced topics in physics and electronics.

Objectives

  • To make the participants aware of latest trends in the field of renewable energy sources
  • To understand the concept and types of various controllers and converters used in wind and solar hybrid systems
  • To know current trends in the field of astrophysics
  • To discuss the astronomy experiments for the UG students
  • To know about Embedded systems and Arduino platform
  • To know the energy related applications of carbon nano structures
  • To understand the concept of Spectro microscopic investigation of Anti ferromagnetism and Dielectric properties
  • To be aware of latest trends in optical communication and experiments
  • To understand the concept of multi wavelength detectors

A total of 22 teachers from the Department of Physics and Electronics as well as from the Department of Physics, CUFE, Kengari Camus, participated in the QIP 2018. The participants found all the sessions very informative and helpful in developing the core as well as elective courses for the UG students.
